The HIV 1/2 rapid test cassette is designed for the qualitative detection of antibodies directed against HIV types 1 and 2 in human whole blood, serum, or plasma, to assist in the diagnosis of HIV infection.
The test is based on a membrane pre-coated with recombinant HIV antigens and a latex conjugate enabling the detection of anti-HIV-1 and anti-HIV-2 antibodies.
The sample migrates by capillary action and reacts with the antigens; the presence of antibodies is indicated by the appearance of a colored line.
